Almaty and Moscow signed a memorandum of cooperation

Within the framework of the Days of Moscow in Almaty, held on the 25th anniversary year of the two twinning cities, a conference on investment, trade, economic and business cooperation was held.

In a welcoming speech to the conference participants, Almaty Deputy Akim Y. Babakumarov, noted the symbolism of friendly relations between the two cities.

“At a certain time,in the city of Almaty, strategically important relations arose between our countries, which are united by a historical and cultural community. We carefully observe how modern Moscow is developing, rejoice at the successes, and study the experience of the city, ”Yerzhan Babakumarov said, noting that the Days of Moscow in Almaty will allow for the establishment of a mutually beneficial exchange of experience, new ideas and plans for the benefit of the two cities.

The deputy akim of the city emphasized that Almaty is rightfully considered the cultural and business center of Kazakhstan. At the same time, the developed infrastructure, the rich intellectual and cultural heritage of our city, and human capital accumulated over the decades, create the prerequisites for the development of a creative economy.

“It is worth noting, that regular exchange visits, meetings and negotiations between delegations of the local administration, business circles and the creative intelligentsia plays an important role in further strengthening cooperation between our cities,” said Y. Babakumarov.

In turn, the Consul General of Russia in Almaty, Evgeny Bobrov, emphasized that Moscow and Almaty play a key role in cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan.

“According to the results of 2018, the trade turnover of Almaty with Russia reached $ 4.7 billion. At the same time, Moscow’s trade turnover with Kazakhstan amounts to $ 4 billion, ”said the Consul General, adding that the Days of Moscow in Almaty are filled with practical content and will enhance bilateral relations.

A memorandum of cooperation for 2020-2023 was signed between the akimat of Almaty and the Moscow government. The document defines bilateral relations in trade, economic, scientific, technical, humanitarian and cultural cooperation.

On part of the Almaty akimat, the memorandum was signed by the deputy akim of the city Yerzhan Babakumarov. On behalf of the Moscow government – the Minister of the Government of Moscow, head of the Department of Foreign Economic and International Relations, Sergey Cheremin.
