The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Germany Dauren Karipov has attended the New Year Reception in Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier’s Bellevue residence, traditionally held for the Berlin diplomatic corps.
In his bilateral greeting with Ambassador Karipov, the German President conveyed his best wishes for the New Year to the First President of Kazakhstan – Leader of the Nation Nursultan Nazarbayev, the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the Kazakh people.
In his remarks before the heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations, the German President drew attention to the necessity of strengthening international cooperation in the interests of global stability and security, protecting the environment, as well as free and fair world trade. He also noted that 2020 will mark two important jubilees – the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II and the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp.
“Striving for a future in a united, peaceful Europe whose peoples live in peace and self-determination, determining their destinies together in the European Union and resolving conflicts among each other peacefully – that is the lesson that we have learned from two devastating wars on our continent”, remarked President Steinmeier.
Commenting the recent worsening of the political and military situation in the Middle East, the German President expressed hope that the tragic consequences of the recent escalation of violence would serve as an impetus for the international community to seek ways to build confidence and encouraged the reception’s guests to work together to this end.
