Prospects of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia in the field of atomic and renewable energy were discussed in Riyadh

On September 2, 2021, H.E. Mr. Berik Aryn, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Saudi Arabia, held a meeting with H.E. Dr. Khalid Al-Sultan, the Chairman of the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (K.A.CARE), Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.

During the meeting, the parties discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation between the K.A.CARE and Kazakh companies, research institutes, and centers in atomic and renewable energy.

In this vein, the Ambassador informed on the development and achievements of Kazakhstan’s nuclear science and the peaceful use of atomic energy over the 30 years of the country’s independence.

Besides, the Kazakh diplomat briefed the head of K.A.CARE on the main highlights of the State of the Nation Address of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev entitled “Unity of the people and systemic reforms are a solid foundation for the nation’s prosperity”.

In particular, the Ambassador noted that within the framework of this State of the Nation Address, the Kazakh President emphasized the energy security of Kazakhstan and set several tasks for the Government of Kazakhstan to develop safe and environmentally friendly nuclear energy.

In this regard, Ambassador Berik Aryn expressed the readiness of the Kazakh side to enhance collaboration in the field of energy with Saudi Arabia and commence implementing the previously reached agreements.

Dr. Khalid Al-Sultan praised the goals, priorities, and tasks outlined in the Address of the President of Kazakhstan and expressed readiness to make joint efforts to expand bilateral cooperation, which will meet the interests of the two countries and peoples.

For his part, the Chairman of K.A.CARE has uttered interest in the activities of the IAEA Low-Enriched Uranium Bank, established on the territory of Kazakhstan at the initiative of the First President of Kazakhstan – Leader of the Nation Nursultan Nazarbayev.

K.A.CARE is a scientific, research, and a governmental entity that deals with nuclear and renewable energy issues in Saudi Arabia. K.A.CARE contributes to the sustainable development of the energy sector in the Kingdom and plays a key role in planning the introduction of peaceful nuclear energy technologies in Saudi Arabia.
