Today, Vice Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Janel Kushukova held a bilateral meeting with Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Badriddin Abidov on the sidelines of the 12th WTO Ministerial Conference, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.

During the meeting, representatives of the parties discussed the main issues of Uzbekistan's accession to the WTO and bilateral cooperation.

"Uzbekistan is a friendly neighbor with whom we have close trade, economic and cultural ties. We support Tashkent's aspiration to become a member of the World Trade Organization," said Zh.S. Kushukova.

According to the Vice Minister, Uzbek colleagues are very interested in studying Kazakhstan's experience of joining the WTO. To this end, bilateral consultations will be organized in the near future. "Within the framework of such consultations, in accordance with the procedure established within the WTO, the existing issues of bilateral trade will be resolved, among other things," Zhanel Kushukova said.

It should be noted that Uzbekistan began the negotiation process in 1994. After a long pause, the Head of Uzbekistan in 2017 decided to resume negotiations on the country's accession to the WTO.
