On June 5, 2022, a nationwide vote on amendments to the Constitution was held in the country. The referendum was successful and attracted wide support of the Kazakh society.
The broad participation of the population in the nationwide vote was a manifestation of the growth of civic consciousness, consolidation and cohesion of the Kazakh society. Kazakhstanis expressed their civil position on the issues of amendments to the Basic Law of the country.
Almost 80% of voted citizens ballot for changes in the socio-political life of the country.
The results of the referendum showed a high level of trust of Kazakhstanis to President K.K. Tokayev and his program.
As the Head of State noted, on June 5, «a significant historical event took place in our country. Our country has entered a new stage of development».
Now the state is moving to the implementation of constitutional reforms. This is a large-scale task, the solution of which depends on both the authorities and society. Much work remains to be done on the political reform programme, the revision of existing constitutional laws and the adoption of new laws.
The referendum held on June 5, laid the foundation of the construction of the Second Republic, the formation of a democratic, legal and just state – New Kazakhstan.
