At an extraordinary meeting of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakhyt Sultanov, Kazakhstan's proposal to extend the quota for duty–free imports of white sugar and raw sugar for the Republic of Kazakhstan until October 31, 2022 was approved. Previously, the quota was limited to August 31, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.
- This measure will reduce the cost of supplying imported sugar to the domestic market. Now we are negotiating with a number of countries on the supply of large volumes of sugar. And by November, the supply of beet sugar of the new harvest will also begin both from Kazakh factories and from the EAEU countries," B. Sultanov commented.
In addition, Kazakhstan is negotiating to increase the quota for duty-free imports of white sugar and raw sugar.
Currently, Kazakhstan's quota is 350 thousand tons of white sugar and raw cane sugar with zero import customs duty until August 2022.
