The Ambassador of Kazakhstan took part in the annual environmental campaign «Green Legacy»

Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Ethiopia, Permanent Representative to the African Union Barlybay Sadykov, at the invitation of the Government of Ethiopia, took part in the launch of the annual national program «Green Legacy». The event took place in Gulele Park near Addis Ababa with the participation of Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, members of the Government, as well as ambassadors of foreign countries and heads of international organizations accredited in Ethiopia, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.

During a short conversation, Ambassador B.Sadykov wished Prime Minister Ahmed and the Ethiopian people success in achieving the targets of the «Green Legacy» program. For the first time, the national program «Green Legacy» was launched on July 29, 2019 by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, to educate society about environmental degradation and solve environmental problems in the country. Today, the Green Legacy program has become a large-scale national project aimed at combating the effects of climate change in Ethiopia. The national action is held annually throughout the country from June to October. From 2019 to 2021, more than 15 billion trees were planted. The goal of the program is to plant 20 billion trees by the end of 2022. In addition, the Ethiopian Government sends a large number of seedlings to neighboring countries.

In Kazakhstan, within the framework of environmental policy, it is planned to plant 2 billion trees, the international initiative «Green Bridge» is being implemented, the International Center for Green Technologies and Investment Projects is functioning.
