Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan H.E. Mr. Yerzhan Kistafin made a working trip to Lahore, DKNews.kz reports.
During the visit, he met Mr. Muhammad Amir Jan, Lahore Commissioner.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of strengthening cooperation at the regional level.
The Pakistani side expressed interest in signing a Memorandum and establishing twinning relations between Lahore, which is the cultural centre of the Islamic Republic, and Turkestan, that is the spiritual capital of Kazakhstan and the Turkic world.
In general, the high potential for the development of bilateral relations in the fields of tourism, sports, culture, trade and investment was noted.
Ambassador Kistafin met with representatives of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry. At the meeting, the Ambassador informed about the results achieved in 2022. In particular, it was noted the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Bank of Punjab and BankCentrCredit, planned launch of direct flights between the cities of Lahore-Almaty and Almaty-Karachi in April 2023.
The Ambassador called on the business community of Pakistan to actively participate in the development of cooperation with the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During a business lunch organized by representatives of large businesses in Punjab province, the parties discussed potential bilateral projects and reached an agreement on working out issues related to their implementation.
During the dinner, Kistafin met with representatives of the film industry and famous actors of Pakistan and discussed with them to establish cooperation in the field of cinematography with the possible joint shooting of films with the joint participation of Kazakhstani and Pakistani studios.
During the trip, the Ambassador also took part in a morning show on the Pakistani television channel "Rug New Channel", during which he spoke about the work carried out in 2022, the results of bilateral cooperation, as well as further plans planned for the current 2023, including in the context of the upcoming visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.Tokayev to Islamabad.
