On February 21, 2020, a festive event dedicated to the International Mother Language Day was held at Addis Ababa University. Its participants were representatives of the ministries of science and higher education, culture, the media, the scientific and cultural circles of Ethiopia, as well as the diplomatic corps of Addis Ababa.
Within the framework of the official part, welcoming remarks were made by the Ministers of Culture and Science of Ethiopia, the President of Addis Ababa University, and the representative of UNESCO.
The program of the event included, inter alia, performances by representatives of different countries, including some embassies with the Embassy of Kazakhstan among them. As part of the celebration this year of the 175th anniversary of the birth of the great Kazakh poet Abai, the Embassy made a presentation of his oeuvre and performed his song "Kozimnіn Karasi" in Kazakh. The creation of Abai performed by two representatives of the Embassy, dressed in colorful national costumes and accompanying themselves by piano, was warmly received by the participants of the event.
