The use of IT and digitalization are currently one of the most important factors of economic development and international competitiveness of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.
Information technology is one of the most significant and dynamic areas of standardization and includes the regulation of methods, production processes and software and hardware for collecting, processing, storing, distributing and using information in electronic form.
As of 2022, more than 500 national standards in the ICT industry have been approved and harmonized in Kazakhstan.
The Technical Committee for Standardization No. 34 "Information Technologies" operating on the basis of JSC "National Infocommunication Holding "Zerde" annually monitors and analyzes the compliance of the scientific and technical level of national standards in the ICT industry with international standards adopted by the International Organization for Standardization, the International Electrotechnical Commission, the International Telecommunication Union, the Interstate Council of the CIS and others.
According to the results of monitoring, 151 national standards on information technologies require revision, 16 are recommended for cancellation, 15 inter-national standards are included in the National Standardization Plan.
In addition, as part of the preparation for the transition to the platform model of digitalization provided for by the national project "Technological Breakthrough due to digitalization, innovation and science", TC 34 together with the Kazstandart RSE, KTRM MIT RK prepared 30 draft technical standards in such areas as biometrics, cloud computing, information security, Big Data, artificial intelligence (AI), data centers, Internet of Things (IoT), GIS information.
