In the beginning of spring, Astana Opera will feature for its listeners a new concert series of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s music Immortal Amadeus. As part of the series, an exciting premiere will take place on March 10 at the Baiseitova Chamber Hall: the brilliant Austrian composer’s instrumental masterpiece “Gran Partita” will be performed for the first time in Kazakhstan, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.

Serenade No. 10 in B-flat major for winds and double bass, known as “Gran Partita”, is highly regarded by classical music aficionados, discerning critics and wide audience. In turn, the musicians themselves perform it with great joy and inspiration.

The serenade will be presented by a large wind ensemble, including oboists the Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan Damilya Makhpirova, holder of the Order of Qurmet Nurgul Saparova, clarinetists Almas Tokpanov, Daulet Seidakhmetov, Kazbek Tastanbekov, Tlek Dautkhan, bassoonists Asset Neldybayev, Vladimir Ardashev, horn players Kalkaman Dyussembayev, Zhanat Zhakayev, Dulat Kenes, Yerlan Zhakenov and double bass player Nurlan Dvessov.

“The music of this brilliant classical work is filled with joy, warmth and romantic feelings. It is witty and mischievous, tender and ironic, dreamy and wistful at the same time. The atmosphere of contemplation and serenity sometimes resembles musical poetry. Nevertheless, there are also dramatic moments in the Serenade No. 10. Its thematic diversity, harmony of form and vastness distinguish this work. It is one of Mozart’s largest chamber-instrumental compositions. It is a real firework of wind instrument tone colours. The inspirational “Gran Partita” allows each of the performers to demonstrate their skill, honed to the nuances,” Asset Neldybayev, principal bassoon of the Astana Opera Symphony Orchestra, said.

A day earlier, on March 9, the Astana Opera Chamber Orchestra under the baton of conductor Ruslan Baimurzin and soloists, violinist Anel Shakirova and violist Akhmet Sultanov, will perform a concert Mozart Forever within the framework of this series. The evening’s program features Mozart’s the Overture to the opera Così Fan Tutte, Symphony No. 35 in D major, known as ‘Haffner Symphony’, Sinfonia Concertante for Violin, Viola and Orchestra in E-flat major.

On March 11, a concert Music by Candlelight will be featured as part of this series. The principal first violin of the Astana Opera Symphony Orchestra, Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan Bagdat Abilkhanov and international competitions laureate pianist Saltanat Abilkhanova will perform Mozart’s Sonata for Violin and Piano in G major and Sonata for Violin and Piano in B-flat major  and other chamber-instrumental works for violin and piano.

The concerts will begin on March 9 and 10 at 7 pm, on March 11 at 6 pm.
