Deputies of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and representatives of the United Nations Development Program held a round table where they discussed the progress of Kazakhstan in human development, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.
Opening the event, Deputy Chairman of the Senate Olga Perepechina noted that the presented report contains an assessment of the formation of Kazakhstan over three decades of its development in terms of the country's capabilities in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
"Considerable attention is paid to the relationship between the economy and the development of Kazakhstan's human potential through the use of knowledge as a necessary condition for a sustainable future," the Vice Speaker of the Senate said.
Permanent Representative of the United Nations Development ProgrammeYakup Berish noted that Kazakhstan has managed to achieve significant development results, in particular, to implement key market reforms, to improve the system of providing public services to the population. He also stressed the importance of establishing partnerships and confirmed the readiness of UNDP to support the country and the people of Kazakhstan on this path.
During the event, the Chief Economist of the Regional Office of the United Nations Development Program in Europe and the CIS Ben Slay presented an overview of Kazakhstan's progress on key components of human development, including health, education and decent living conditions.
During the round table, the Minister of National Economy also made reports Alibek Kuantyrov, First Vice-Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Akmadi Sarbasov, as well as Chairman of the National Commission on Women's Affairs and Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Lazzat Ramazanova. The event is timed to the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan's accession to the UN.
