The Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy hosted a lesson-excursion "The Batyr Institute: traditions, status and armament" for students of gymnasium school No. 75 in Nur-Sultan, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.
The event from the “Exhibits spoke…” series was organized in the “Gallery of Glory” hall, where a unique collection of weapons and military equipment is exhibited.
Schoolchildren learned about the history and features of the traditions of donating weapons and blessing a warrior for feats of arms.
The children were especially interested in a fragment of the original saber of Abylai Khan. This relic was given to the First President of Kazakhstan N.A.Nazarbayev on behalf of the descendants of Abylai Khan in 2003 by the daughter of the famous Kazakh historian Yermukhan Bekmakhanov, Naila Bekmakhanova. In turn, N. Bekmakhanova herself in her book “Myths. Magic. Science” writes that she received this fragment of a saber in the city of Turkestan during a visit to the grave of Abylai Khan in the mausoleum of Khoja Akhmet Yassaui.
During the lesson, young listeners discovered the essence of the concept of traditional weapons of warriors "Bes karu" and learned a number of historical facts about Kazakh batyrs.
