May 13 this year The Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy hosted a professional session "Museum Ecosystem: Lessons from the Pandemic" in the Open Space format, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.

The session was attended by representatives of the Elbasy Library, the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as employees of the country's leading republican and regional museum institutions.

The purpose of the event, organized on the eve of the International Museum Day, was to discuss topical issues of storage, study and presentation of historical and cultural heritage in the face of modern risks and challenges.

“Our meeting today is one of the first in an offline format since the beginning of the pandemic. Although the pandemic has receded, it should be recognized that it has made serious adjustments that have radically changed the usual way of our life and work. Over the past two years, changes have taken place in the cultural institutions of the country, which will have an impact on their activities in the future. That is why we initiated this session dedicated to the museum ecosystem. In the context of museum activities, the "ecosystem" means the creation of a harmonious, comfortable, accessible environment for museum visitors. The main task of today's meeting is the exchange of experience and the development of practical and systematic recommendations for the work of museums in the new conditions” Bakytzhan Temirbolat, director of the Elbasy Library

“The pandemic has taught us invaluable lessons of survival in its conditions. We have gained not only experience of working in a new format, but also learned how to introduce new mechanisms, new technologies, expand the boundaries of thinking and managing the cultural sphere” Serik Zharasbayev, vice minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan

During the session, discussions were held in four sections:

  • Museum management;
  • Fund activity;
  • Exposition activities;
  • Excursion activities.

As part of the event, a fund exhibition of the Elbasy Library "Museum Secrets" was organized.
