On November, 25 the scientific library of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted an international scientific and practical conference "Kazakh Culture and Philosophy in the Turkic world" dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the outstanding scientist, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Gabitov Tursyn Hafizuly, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.
The conference was attended by government and public figures, scientists from the USA, Turkey and the Kyrgyz Republic, colleagues of Tursyn Gabitov, students, faculty and young scientists of KazNU.
A congratulatory letter from the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek was read out at the conference. "Your research in the fundamental areas of philosophy has made you famous in the international scientific community. Your educational, scientific life path and public position are worthy example for conscious youth," the Minister stated.
Opening the conference, Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev congratulated the professor on his anniversary. "Gabitov Tursyn Hafizuly has given a new direction to philosophy in our country by creating scientific works common for all Turkic world. Based on in-depth research, you have published numerous informative monographs, textbooks and manuals, and have formed your own scientific school. You (Gabitov T.H) as the founder of the Kazakh school of Cultural Studies, have paved the way to the development of the studying of cultural anthropology in our country," the rector announced.
The event was organized by the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Hacettepe University, TURKSOY and the Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Republic of Turkey, Institute of Philosophy, Political Science and Religious Studies of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan , the Kazakhstan Philosophical Congress and the fellows of the Bolashak program with the project "500 scientists".
The actual issues related to the contribution of the Turks to world civilization, topical issues of Kazakh philosophy and cultural studies in Kazakhstan were discussed at the conference.
Professor of the Washington State University, Ph.D. R. Charles Weller, Professor of Hacettepe University, Ph.D., Head of the Department of Turkic Public Education Özkul Çhobanoglu, Professor of Hacettepe University, Ph.D. Sacide Çhobanoglu and other scientists made reports at the conference, and several congratulatory letters were also read out.
After the plenary session the following sections were held: "The contribution of Turkic culture to world civilization", "The role of Kazakh philosophy in substantiating national consciousness and identity", "Kazakh culture and current problems of cultural studies in Kazakhstan", "Research in Turkology and Kazakh studies: cultural and anthropological perspectives".
It is noted that a number of important scientific events were held within the framework of the international scientific and practical conference "Kazakh Culture and Philosophy in the Turkic world".
From October 27 to November 9, a week dedicated to the work of Professor Gabitov Tursun Hafizuly was held at the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
On November 17-18, the first part of the events within the framework of the international conference " Kazakh Culture and Philosophy in the Turkic world" was held in Ankara (Turkey). The presentation of the book "Kazakh and Oguz Ethics: folklore meta-ethical justification" by Professor of Hacettepe University, Dr. Özkul Çhobanoglu and Professor, Dr. Sacide Çhobanoglu on Turkic-Oguz culture based on the works of Professor Gabitov Tursun "Theory and history of Kazakh ethics" and "Theory and History of Kazakh Culture" took place in the Office of the General Secretariat of TURKSOY. The book was translated into Turkish and presented in supplemented form to scientists and the public.
In addition, on November, 18 a meeting of the working group of representatives of philosophical societies of Turkic-speaking states on the creation of a philosophical community of the Turkic world and a conference dedicated to the opening of the "Turkic Philosophical Society" took place, as well as a leadership lecture by Professor Gabitov. The event was attended by representatives of diplomatic missions, well-known public figures and scientists of the Turkic-speaking states.
A collection of articles will be published based on the materials of the conference.
