Kazakhstan – Canada: significant potential for expanding cooperation

In order to enhance trade, economic and investment cooperation, as well as to attract Canadian manufacturers, their innovations and technologies to Kazakhstan on March 29-30, 2023 Kazakhstan Ambassador to Canada A.Kamaldinov paid an official visit to the Yukon territory, DKNews.kz reports.

During the visit, Ambassador A.Kamaldinov met with the Commissioner of Yukon Angélique Bernard, Mayor of Whitehorse (the capital of the territory) Laura Cabott, Premier of Yukon Ranj Pillai, Minister of Energy, Natural Resources and Mining John Streicker and leaders of Canadian companies.

During the event, the interlocutors were presented with Kazakhstan large-scale political and economic reforms, the investment climate of our country for foreign investors, including benefits and preferences for producers and exporters, as well as detailed information about reforms in Kazakhstan mining industry and Astana International Financial Center (AIFC). It was noted that our state has a significant export potential for the production of rare earth and non-ferrous metals, "green hydrogen", environmentally friendly products for their subsequent export to the markets of neighboring countries.

In general, the visit’s results confirmed the significant interest of Yukon companies in developing cooperation with Kazakhstan in the areas of natural resources, mining, transport and logistics and tourism. The Embassy will continue to elaborate reached arrangements with the relevant Kazakhstan state bodies and departments.
