The delegation of Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan, headed by the Deputy Prosecutor General Ulan Baizhanov, with the assistance of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Switzerland, met with the Head of the Basel Institute on Governance, comprising the International Center for Asset Recovery (ICAR) - one of the major research institutes for the analysis of illegal financial flows around the world, DKNews.kz reports.
Representatives of Institute were informed about the political and socio-economic reforms in Kazakhstan, initiated by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.K.Tokayev, focused on diversification, demonopolization and ensuring a fair distribution of national income, as well as return of illegal assets from abroad.
In its turn, the Executive Director Gretta Fenner, emphasized the importance of the ongoing reforms in Kazakhstan, and expressed the Institute's readiness to provide recommendations on improving the regulatory legal acts governing asset recovery, provide advice in conducting international investigations, and preparing requests for criminal cases related to the return of assets due to abroad, as well as organize training sessions on financial investigations.
As a result of the negotiations, the parties signed an Agreement on Cooperation.
