During their stay in Astana, a number of meetings of the Brazilian economic delegation with the leadership of the Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, national companies of our country took place. The agenda of the talks included issues of expanding cooperation in the field of mutual trade and investment, DKNews.kz reports.
In particular, at the meeting of the Vice Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kairat Torebayev, with the participation of the General Director of «QazTrade» JSC Nuraly Bukeikhanov and the head of the «SWISSGROW» company Rustem Aliyev, issues of increasing and diversifying mutual trade between Kazakhstan and Brazil were discussed. The Kazakh side acquainted the guests with the new export opportunities of Kazakhstan and the range of goods that may be of practical interest to Brazil.
At the same time, the possibilities of establishing cooperation on the supply of urea and fertilizers from Kazakhstan, which are currently in high demand in Brazil, were discussed. The parties noted a significant increase in mutual trade between the two countries last year and agreed to continue the dialogue on diversifying bilateral trade.
During the meeting, acting Chairman of the Board of JSC NC «KAZAKH INVEST» Zhandos Temirgali with the Brazilian delegation, there was a presentation of investment opportunities in Kazakhstan and new support tools for potential investors. In this context, the Kazakh side welcomed the intentions of the Brazilian company «WEG» to create a technical hub and localize the production of electrical equipment in Kazakhstan and proposed to consolidate them with a separate investment agreement.
The parties also discussed the content of the forthcoming in June this year Investment Round table in Sao Paulo with a presentation of investment and trade opportunities of the two countries.
As part of the official program, the Brazilian delegation also visited the office of the Astana International Financial Center (AIFC) and got acquainted with its activities and portfolio as a regional business and finance center. At the end of the visit, Gilberto Petry left an entry in the AIFC Book of Honored Guests.
This year, Kazakhstan and Brazil celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
Bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and Brazil doubled in 2022 and amounted to $364.4 million (exports - $84.7 million, imports - $279.4 million). «SWISSGROW» produces mineral fertilizers using Swiss technology in Kazakhstan and sells them to agricultural enterprises. The structure of Kazakh exports is dominated by sulfur, ferroalloys, ferrous metal products and uranium. Brazilian imports consist mainly of aircraft, cane sugar, raw tobacco, fruit juices, pork and coffee.
