Speaker of the Mazhilis Yerlan Koshanov met with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Kazakhstan Katherine Jane Leach. The interlocutors discussed issues of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, DKNews.kz reports.
The British diplomat praised the ongoing reforms in the country and wished her success in establishing a truly "influential parliament" with new powers.
“Over the past 30 years, we have built a productive political dialogue between our countries, formed a solid contractual legal framework, and established trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation. All this made it possible to bring the Kazakh-British relations to the level of strategic partnership” Yerlan Koshanov
Katherine Jane Leach noted that an important part of the cooperation between the two countries is traditionally an inter-parliamentary dialogue. The All-Party Group for Cooperation with Kazakhstan functions in the Parliament of Great Britain. In the Mazhilis, a group of friendship with the United Kingdom is being formed, which will be represented by deputies of different parties, professions and ages.
