On May 22, 2023, the 6th meeting of the Kazakhstan-EU Cooperation Committee in Trade Configuration chaired by Vice Minister of Trade and Integration of the RK Kairat Torebayev and the European Commission Head of Unit for Southern neighbours, Middle East, Türkiye, Russia, Belarus and Central Asia Nele Eichhorn was held in Astana, DKNews.kz reports.
At the meeting the parties discussed The parties discussed the current trade and economic relations between Kazakhstan and the European Union and possibilities of enhancement, the implementation of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (EPCA) between Kazakhstan and the EU.
The EU is Kazakhstan's large trading partner and accounts for 30% of total trade. The dynamics of mutual trade shows an annual increase in trade volumes. In general, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and the European Union for 3 months of 2023 amounted to 10.2 billion US dollars, which is 12.5% higher than in the same period of the previous year (9.1 billion US dollars).
At the same time Kazakhstan can offer the EU more than 175 types of non-primary goods worth over $2.3 billion in various industries, such as engineering, iron and steel production, processed food and agriculture. In particular, being a major grain producer, our country could become a strategic partner of the EU in the implementation of the global food agenda.
