Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted a conference "Fate Intertwined with History" dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the famous scientist-historian, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Talas Omarbekov and the memory of the victims of repression, DKNews.kz reports.

The event began with the presentation of the book "Gibratty Gumyr: Talas Omarbekov". The conference was attended by well-known scientists, prominent public and state figures, teaching staff and students. As part of the event, an exhibition of books was organized.

The speakers highly appreciated the merits and contribution to science of Talas Omarbekov, who has been engaged in scientific, pedagogical and creative activities at universities since 1980. In 2001, he became the head of the Department of Ancient and Medieval History of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The historical science of Kazakhstan has its own scientific school of T. Omarbekov. Talas Omarbekov created the Republican research Center "Study of Traditional Civilizations of Central Asia" at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The creation of the center is connected with the program "People in the Flow of History". Professor Omarbekov became one of the first historians admitted to the previously classified archival funds of the KGB. The results of this work are reflected in his publications.

The famous scientist Talas Omarbekov devoted his entire life to studying the history of the Kazakh people. His passion for science, interest in history, and hard work will serve as a bright example for his followers and students.
