The Embassy of Kazakhstan took part in an environmental campaign: «Let's plant our future today», planting 500 million tree seedlings in one day, DKNews.kz reports.
The event was organized by the Mayor's Office of Addis Ababa, and was attended by H.E. Demeke Mekonnen, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, heads of diplomatic missions of foreign states and international organizations.
For planting trees, foreign embassies were allocated plots with the names of countries and organizations, symbolizing the global nature of Ethiopia's «Green Legacy» initiative, which other countries can continue.
For example, in 2020, Kazakhstan also launched a state program to plant 2 billion trees by 2025.
As part of the first phase of Ethiopia's Green Legacy initiative, 25 billion trees were planted. Now, during the second phase, it is also planned to plant another 25 billion seedlings.
The Embassy of Kazakhstan thanks the Government of Ethiopia for the opportunity to participate in this environmental action.
