Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Canada Dauletbek Kussainov paid his first official visit to the province of Alberta, where he held meetings with the region's leadership and business community and participated in the international energy conference, the “Global Energy Show Canada”, DKNews.kz reports.

The main purpose of the visit was to strengthen the energy partnership, expand cooperation in the exploration and production of mineral resources, attract high-tech industries, and adopt the province’s best practices in introducing environmental safety standards in production.

In particular, at the meeting with the Premier of the Government of Alberta Danielle Smith, an agreement was reached to intensify these areas of cooperation, including through the organization of exchange visits of business missions.

During the trip, the Kazakh Ambassador met with members of the provincial government and heads of major companies, and visited leading educational institutions in Alberta, including the University of Calgary.

On the margins of the energy forum, the Embassy held a round table with the province's entrepreneurs interested in establishing partnerships with our country. The participants were informed about the updates of investment policy in Kazakhstan, as well as opportunities in new investment projects.

Overall, the results of the meetings and negotiations were an important substantive part of the Embassy’s work to further expand the Kazakh-Canadian partnership.

Alberta is one of the world's top five oil and gas reserves, estimated at 160 billion barrels. In addition, the province has significant coal, wind and solar energy reserves.

Alberta produces about 32% of all Canadian wheat, 29% of barley and 20% of canola. The province is also known for its innovative approaches to livestock development.

In addition, the region has developed horticulture, beekeeping, dairy production and other types of agriculture.

All of this makes Alberta one of the wealthiest and most economically developed regions in Canada (Alberta's GDP was 349.31 billion US dollars in 2023).
