Bulgaria is Interested in Developing Cooperation with Kazakhstan in the IT Sector, DKnews.kz reports.

As part of the work to widely inform local business communities about the benefits of doing business in Kazakhstan, Ambassador Viktor Temirbayev met with the Executive Director of the Bulgarian Association of Information Technologies (BAIT) Vesela Kalacheva.

During the conversation, the prospects of cooperation in order to develop cooperation between Astana and Sofia in the IT sector were discussed, including by assisting in establishing direct business contacts between enterprises of the two countries.

Ambassador Temirbayev spoke about the dynamic development of the IT sector in Kazakhstan, in particular, the digitalization of public services and the E-Government platform, the introduction of IT solutions in various sectors of the economy. The Kazakh diplomat also informed about the ongoing work of the Government to create favorable conditions in order to attract leading IT specialists, in particular, the launch of special programs “Digital Nomad Visa” and “Digital Nomad Residency”, which are planned to be launched by the end of the year.

At the same time, representatives of BAIT were informed about the activities of the largest international technopark of IT startups in Central Asia – AstanaHub, where more than 1.4 thousand companies are already successfully operating.

In addition, as part of the execution of the instruction of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to bring the export of domestic IT services to 1 billion US dollars by 2026, the Bulgarian side was provided with information on the offered digital services and solutions of Kazakhstani IT companies for potential foreign partners.

In turn, Vesela Kalacheva shared Bulgarian experience in the IT industry, expressing interest in intensifying ties with Kazakhstan in the field of information technology and digitalization, as well as her personal willingness to work together to develop mutually beneficial partnership between IT companies of the two countries.

In conclusion, the parties agreed to maintain working contacts on all issues identified during the meeting.

The Bulgarian Association of Information Technologies (BAIT) was founded in 1995 and currently unites more than 100 companies in the IT sector, employing more than 16.6 thousand IT specialists and generating an annual turnover of 4% of the country’s GDP. BAIT covers the entire spectrum of the IT sphere – software, hardware, telecommunications, system integration, fintech, Internet service providers, IoT, game developers, cybersecurity and much more.
