Kazakh Students Gain Practical Experience in China During Summer School, DKnews.kz reports.

Five NU students participated in the 2024 Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School (SIGS) Global Summer School (GSS), held from June 25 to July 4 in Shenzhen, China. This program annually brings together talented students from around the world for academic enrichment, cultural exchange, and practical interactions.

Selected from 2000 candidates worldwide, the five NU students joined 110 participants from 63 universities in 34 countries. Among them were Nurzhaina Dubek, Kamila Bisenbayeva, and Madi Turgunov from the School of Engineering and Digital Sciences, as well as Erke Erzhanqyzy and Gulzhan Nurtay from the School of Sciences and Humanities Sciences. They participated in programs offered by the Institute of Data and Information (iDI), Institute of Environment and Ecology (iEE), and Open Faculty for Innovations, Education, Science, Technology, and Art (Open FIESTA).

Erke Erzhanqyzy noted that the experience gained in the Open FIESTA program at Tsinghua SIGS GSS 2024 equipped students with tools to stimulate innovation and creativity in Kazakhstan.

"In iEE, we immersed ourselves in academic and practical learning, meeting various specialists and gaining a unique perspective on the combination of urbanization and sustainable development that we do not see at home. The high-tech atmosphere of Shenzhen and inspiring conversations with fellow students and leading professors at Tsinghua SIGS made us dream of making significant contributions to the sustainable future of Kazakhstan" Nurzhaina Dubek

During the ten-day program, students participated in lectures, workshops, company visits, and cultural events under the guidance of experts and scholars.

It is important to note that most participants in the school came from universities in the Asian Universities Alliance, which includes NU, alongside highly rated universities such as the National University of Singapore, University of Tokyo, and United Arab Emirates University.
