Over several years, the National Bank of Kazakhstan has systematically developed a Concept for the new design of the entire banknote series and has gradually introduced the new “Saka Style” series into circulation, DKnews.kz reports.
For the first time in the world, the “Saka Style” banknotes feature advanced security elements, including a micro-optic two-tone security thread that, when tilted, displays a dynamic pulsating effect, as if “animating” the national pattern embedded on it. The security patch integrates three-dimensional images of artifacts discovered in Saka burial mounds. Thus, the latest security elements and the banknotes themselves reflect the history, rich cultural heritage, and natural beauty of Kazakhstan.
As a result, the updated tenge banknotes and coins have gained recognition on the global stage.
The 10,000-tenge banknote of the new “Saka Style” series was awarded the title of "Best New Banknote of 2024" at the international High Security Printing competition. This award recognizes achievements in design and the use of advanced technologies in banknote security. Special attention is given to the representation of national identity, cultural heritage, and the symbolism of the country in the design, as well as the functionality of the security elements.
High Security Printing is one of the most prestigious awards, annually presented at international conferences for outstanding innovations in banknotes. The competition evaluates the combination of artistic design, technological innovation, and symbolism.
Additionally, this year, the commemorative 10,000-tenge banknote and the TEŃGEGE 30 JYL commemorative coin were finalists in the IACA's Excellence in Currency Awards (IACA - International Association of Currency Affairs) in the categories of “Best Commemorative Banknote” and “Best Commemorative Coin,” respectively.
It is noteworthy that the concepts for these banknotes and coins were created by the designers of the National Bank of Kazakhstan.
