Abu Dhabi-based edtech startup CodiPlay has secured $9 million in a Series A funding round at a valuation of $100 million. The funding round included participation from Global Capital, a group of prominent investors from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar, as well as angel investor Cristian Eichner, Senior Executive Vice President - Strategy of Qatar National Bank, all supporting CodiPlay’s mission to equip schools with advanced digital skills in robotics, IoT, and AI.

This significant funding highlights the rising demand for digital literacy as a fundamental skill for future generations. New capital will allow CodiPlay to fuel its expansion plans in the MENA region and beef up its ecosystem with revolutionary AI courseware that helps teachers bring recent innovations to their classes through gamification.

A New Era for Digital Literacy

CodiPlay is transforming digital learning for children, making complex concepts engaging and accessible. The Codi ecosystem equips schools to teach essential digital skills, providing not only interactive tools for students but also comprehensive training and resources. This enables educators to guide young learners in exploring creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking as they build interactive IoT gadgets—from smart home elements to drones—that respond dynamically to real-time commands.

“Scaling our ecosystem rapidly across the MENA region and Central Asia, with a goal of connecting over 3,000 schools within the next two years, is a top priority. This funding will allow us to supercharge our ecosystem’s AI capabilities, delivering an adaptive learning curriculum for children and enabling them to experience its real-world impact firsthand”  Zhanadil Taldybayev, CEO of CodiPlay

Rapid Growth and Global Ambitions

Since its founding in 2021, CodiPlay has experienced remarkable growth, reaching nearly a million children across more than 600 schools in 13 countries, spanning from South Korea to the UK, with a strong focus on the MENA region. Operating from Abu Dhabi and Riyadh, CodiPlay has garnered global recognition as a digital public good by the United Nations and has earned the prestigious Finnish Quality Certificate from Education Alliance Finland. Recognized as a top educational solution by the UK’s largest edtech marketplace, CodiPlay was also awarded Digital Innovation of the Year in the UK, underscoring its impact and commitment to advancing digital education worldwide.
