- Enforcement Actions: Detention, imprisonment, and deportation with restrictions on re-entry to the United States.
- Termination of Benefits: Cancellation of social benefits, work permits, and other related privileges.
- For those without legal grounds to remain in the U.S., the authorities are offering the option to voluntarily leave the country. This measure allows individuals to avoid forced deportation and the resulting restrictions, such as being barred from applying for a U.S. visa in the future.
Reinstatement of the “Remain in Mexico” Policy
Under this policy, migrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border and applying for asylum in the United States are required to stay in Mexico while their cases are reviewed by U.S. immigration courts.
End of the "Catch and Release" Practice
Previously, migrants detained for crossing the border illegally were often released within the U.S. while awaiting their court hearings. This practice has been discontinued. Migrants in this category will now:
