Expansion of Air Connectivity Between Kazakhstan and Hungary: New Shymkent – Budapest Route, DKnews.kz reports.

The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan continues its efforts to expand international flight routes and increase the number of flights on existing destinations. As part of this initiative, Kazakh airline SCAT will launch a new Shymkent – Budapest route starting May 27, 2025. Flights will operate twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, using Boeing 737 aircraft.

A Major Step in Expanding International Air Travel

Expanding air connectivity is a key priority of Kazakhstan’s transport strategy. In recent years, significant efforts have been made to increase the number of international flights, helping to strengthen business ties, boost tourism, and enhance economic cooperation.

Shymkent, Kazakhstan’s third-largest city, serves as a vital economic and transportation hub in the southern region. Its strategic location makes it an important link between Central Asia and Europe. The launch of direct flights to Budapest will provide a faster and more convenient travel option for passengers while reinforcing ties between the two nations.

Economic and Tourism Opportunities

Budapest is one of Europe’s most sought-after travel destinations, renowned for its rich history, stunning architecture, and vibrant cultural heritage. The new direct flight will make it easier for Kazakh travelers to visit Hungary, while also providing European tourists with a more accessible gateway to Kazakhstan.

From an economic perspective, Hungary is one of Kazakhstan’s key trade partners in Europe. The introduction of this route will strengthen bilateral trade and investment, foster business exchanges, and facilitate the development of new economic partnerships between the two nations.

SCAT: Expanding International Flight Network

SCAT Airlines has been actively expanding its global flight network, offering passengers safe, convenient, and comfortable international travel options. Operating Boeing 737 aircraft on this route ensures a modern, reliable, and efficient travel experience.

SCAT has already successfully introduced several international flights, further integrating Kazakhstan into the global aviation network. The launch of the Shymkent – Budapest route could pave the way for additional connections to other European cities in the future.

Future Prospects

Kazakhstan and Hungary continue to strengthen cooperation in trade, education, culture, and business. The Shymkent – Budapest flight is expected to grow in demand, with potential increases in flight frequency and the introduction of new European routes in the future.

Overall, this new route is not just about adding another destination to SCAT’s schedule. It marks a significant milestone in fostering closer ties between Kazakhstan and Europe. For travelers, it means greater accessibility; for businesses, new investment opportunities; and for both countries, a stronger economic and cultural partnership.
