Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Latvia Dauren Karipov visited the city of Daugavpils, a key transport and logistics center of the country, DKnews.kz reports.
During the meeting with the Chairman of Daugavpils City Council, Andrej Elksnins, the parties exchanged views on establishing interregional co-operation and implementing a number of joint projects. Special attention was paid to ensuring efficient transit of Kazakhstan’s cargoes through Latvia to world markets. It was noted that this route is already actively used by Kazakh entrepreneurs.
In addition, Ambassador informed about economic reforms in Kazakhstan. He paid priority attention to the transit-transport and investment potential of the country, inviting Latvian companies to participate in the development of logistics and infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan.
In turn, Elksnins stressed the region’s interest in co-operation with Kazakhstan and expressed readiness to facilitate Kazakh businesses to work in the region.
During the trip, Ambassador Karipov also visited Daugavpils University, the Centre of Technology and Industrial Design “Engineering Arsenal” and the company “Regula Baltija” – a leading manufacturer of special equipment for document authentication.
