Issues of Cooperation on Preserving the Memory of Fallen Kazakhstani Soldiers Discussed in Helsinki, DKnews.kz reports/
Kazakhstan Ambassador to Finland Azamat Abdraimov met with Chairman of the Finnish Association of War Victims Pertti Suominen.
During the meeting, the parties stressed the importance of respecting the memory of the fallen and missing soldiers during the Second World War, and continuing research on the fate of Soviet prisoners of war, including those from Kazakhstan. An agreement was reached to establish cooperation with Kazakhstani public associations engaged in scientific research, archaeological and archival research work on the study of the period of the Second World War.
Pertti Suominen noted the long-standing and positive traditions of bilateral cooperation in the search for burial sites of dead and missing Kazakhstani soldiers during the Second World War, and the active work of researchers in the field of archives. He also thanked Kazakhstan for its reverent attitude towards the graves of Finnish prisoners of war who died in captivity in the Karaganda camp.
