Jordan supports Kazakhstan in strengthening interfaith dialogue

Issues of Jordan’s Participation in the VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions were Discussed, DKnews.kz reports.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Talgat Shaldanbay met with the Minister of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Holy Places of Jordan Muhammad Al-Khalayleh and the Grand Mufti of Jordan Ahmed Ibrahim Hassan Al-Hasanat.

During the bilateral talks, issues of collaboration between Kazakhstan and Jordan in religious dialogue, as well as prospects for cooperation between the two countries in spiritual enlightenment and strengthening interfaith harmony were discussed. The parties paid special attention to the upcoming VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which will be held in Astana in September 2025.

The Kazakh diplomat presented Minister Muhammad Al-Khalayleh and Grand Mufti Ahmed Al-Hasanat with invitations on behalf of the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev to take part in the VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.

Ambassador Shaldanbay emphasized Jordan’s important role in this international forum, noting its significant contribution to the development of interreligious dialogue. Kazakhstan deeply appreciates the Jordanian side’s active participation in previous congresses and continued support for the principles of tolerance and mutual understanding.

In turn, the Jordanian side expressed gratitude for the invitation and highly appreciated Kazakhstan’s initiatives to promote peace, tolerance, and mutual understanding between various religious communities.

The parties also discussed the results of the recent official visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Jordan, which took place on February 18-19, 2025. This visit was noted to be an essential step in strengthening bilateral cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, high-ranking representatives of the Jordanian clergy expressed confidence in the successful holding of the VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, noting that this event will become a significant platform for constructive dialogue and strengthening global interreligious interaction.
