On 28 and 29 March, the stage of the Astana Ballet Theatre was once again the venue for a dance festive occasion, DKnews.kz reports.

The public were presented with the premiere of the choreographic miniature “Zhastar biyi” and the fascinating concert program “The Heritage of the Great Steppe”.

The premiere of Abdrasul Esekeev’s “Zhastar biyi” showcased an outstanding fusion of folk and classical choreography to the audience. The dance is brimming with youth, prowess, tenderness and energy, and has undoubtedly become a true anthem of youth. Yerzhan Toksabanov’s musical accompaniment complemented the miniature perfectly, making it even more expressive.

This outstanding piece was included in the divertissement “The Heritage of the Great Steppe”, the theatre’s signature program which has won recognition in Kazakhstan and beyond. Productions by Honoured Figure of Kazakhstan Aigul Tati and other outstanding choreographers of the country once again immersed the audience in the fascinating world of folk choreography. This world was filled with images of the steppe, its majestic nature, history and traditions of the Kazakh people.

“The Heritage of the Great Steppe” program occupies a special place in the theatre’s repertoire. It is an invaluable treasure reflecting the rich culture, spirituality and identity of our people. We are honoured to preserve and share the unique traditions of the Great Steppe with the world” Nurlan Kanetov, Artistic Director of the theatre

The Kazakh choreography, with its refined grace, dynamic male dances and impressive costumes, was once again a resounding success with the audience. Aigul Tati’s productions are particularly noteworthy, seamlessly blending ethnographic elements with modern choreographic techniques. The result is a visually stunning aesthetic, reminiscent of traditional Kazakh ornaments.

“The Heritage of the Great Steppe” is more than a concert. This is a journey through time, an immersion into great culture and the chance to experience the spirit of nomads and the vast expanses of the steppes.

The audience applauded standing, impressed by the depth of the images, the emotional performance and the skill of the artists of the Astana Ballet Theatre. This proves that traditional choreography combined with innovative solutions has the power to captivate audiences and leave an indelible mark on their souls.
