Kazakhstan develops projects to reduce CO2 emissions

Meeting on 'Taza Kazakhstan: Ecology and Youth' at the Presidential Center of Kazakhstan, DKnews.kz reports.

A meeting titled "Taza Kazakhstan: Ecology and Youth" was held at the Presidential Center of the DPA RK. Marat Kalmenov, Director of the Department of Processing and Analysis of the Institute for the Development of Electric Power and Energy Saving of the Republic of Kazakhstan, spoke at the event.

Serik Sydykov, Deputy Director of the Presidential Center, opened the event with a welcome speech.

In his address, Mr. Kalmenov discussed crucial topics related to environmental issues in Kazakhstan, the country's commitments to international environmental agreements, and the role of energy conservation in tackling climate change.

The speaker elaborated on the primary sources of emissions into the environment and the measures being taken to reduce them. The statistical data he presented sparked particular interest among the listeners. For example, Kazakhstan is among the top 30 emitters of greenhouse gas emissions, ranks 23rd in terms of emissions in the world, ranks 11th in terms of emissions per capita, and ranks 9th in terms of emissions relative to GDP.

Regarding Kazakhstan's steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, Mr. Kalmenov highlighted the development of the national CO2 emissions trading system, support for green technologies and eco-initiatives, and the country's participation in international climate agreements.

"One of the significant steps is attracting investments in low-carbon projects, which helps reduce dependence on fossil fuels and fosters the development of a sustainable economy"  Mr. Kalmenov 

It is worth noting that the meeting was both insightful and productive. It enhanced the students' awareness of climate change. The participants expressed a keen interest in energy conservation and ecological responsibility.
