Digital anti-corruption tools discussed in Astana

In accordance with instructions from the Head of State, the Anti-Corruption Agency continuously studies international experience and best practices in anti-corruption, DKnews.kz reports.

As part of this work, international cooperation with agencies of other countries is being expanded and strengthened.

From April 14 to 17, an official visit took place in Astana by a delegation from the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led by its head Mr. Mazin bin Ibrahim Al-Kahmous.

During the visit, a bilateral meeting was organized with the leadership of the Agency, during which discussions and exchanges of experience took place in the areas of corruption prevention and law enforcement practices.

The Head of the Anti-Corruption Service Askhat Zhumagali acquainted foreign colleagues with the results of anti-corruption measures being carried out in Kazakhstan, including the formation of an anti-corruption culture, the involvement of civil society in corruption prevention, asset recovery efforts, the implementation of digital tools and the improvement of criminal investigation practices.

During the meeting, an interagency Memorandum of Understanding in anti-corruption was signed, which is intended to serve as a foundation for further development of bilateral cooperation.

As part of the visit, guests were also presented with the work of the Ministries of Finance, Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry, as well as the National Bank of Kazakhstan, in introducing digital solutions aimed at increasing transparency in public administration and improving anti-corruption efforts.

The Saudi delegation was shown the “Smart Data Ukimet” system, the electronic public procurement portal, the “Digital Tenge” platform, and the ongoing project on “money coloring.”

The Saudi colleagues were also introduced to the cooperation between the Anti-Corruption Service of Kazakhstan and the Financial Intelligence Unit of the Financial Monitoring Agency.

In addition, Mr. Al-Kahmous held bilateral meetings with the Governor of Astana Zhenis Kassymbek and Prosecutor General Berik Asylov.

At the conclusion of the visit, the heads of the anti-corruption agencies of both countries expressed interest in further expanding cooperation, sharing experiences and strengthening their strategic partnership.
