The 50th annual meeting of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) and the Conference organized by the Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA) took place in Doha, Qatar from 12 to 15 May 2025. The meeting covered key issues of capital market development, empowerment of small and medium enterprises, and role of the Islamic finance, DKnews.kz reports.
The event brought together over 500 participants from 130 jurisdictions representing national regulatory authorities, stock exchanges, self-regulatory organizations, banks, investment companies, as well as international and regional financial institutions.
The annual meeting is an important international platform for exchange of views on key areas of financial market regulation. The discussion focused on issues of investor protection, sustainable development of capital markets and maintaining their stability.
Particular attention was paid to the impact of technological changes on financial markets, including the role of artificial intelligence in upgrade of the infrastructure and supervision, as well as development of fintech, digital assets and crypto currencies.
As part of the event, Agency representatives held meetings with financial regulators of the IOSCO member countries, including the Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA). The bilateral meetings covered prospects for cooperation, including development of new approaches to regulation of the digital asset market and improvement of the legislative framework in the field of securities.
The event was an important stage in enhancement of international cooperation between financial institutions and government agencies designed to improve efficiency of regulation and sustainability of global and local capital markets.
