Kazakhstan and the EU discussed the launch of an academic hub and the expansion of Erasmus+

Academic Education in Europe Discussed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, DKnews.kz reports.

Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu held a meeting with the Rector of the College of Europe, Federica Mogherini, who arrived in Kazakhstan to participate in the Astana International Forum.

During the meeting, the parties held an in-depth discussion on the current state and prospects of Kazakhstan-European cooperation, including in the field of education and academic mobility, and exchanged views on pressing issues of the international agenda.

Minister Nurtleu highlighted Federica Mogherini’s special contribution to strengthening the multifaceted cooperation between Kazakhstan and the European Union, noting a series of her productive visits to the country in her capacity as High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy (2014-2019).

The Kazakh Foreign Minister expressed interest in expanding the Erasmus+ student exchange program and shared plans to establish an academic hub in Kazakhstan.

In turn, Rector Mogherini informed about the participation of representatives of Kazakhstan’s government agencies in courses and trainings at the College of Europe and confirmed interest in continuing academic mobility programs.

Following the meeting, the sides agreed to maintain contact on issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of education and strengthening institutional ties between Kazakhstan and the European Union member states.
