South Korean delegation to visit Kazakhstan as part of historic mission

Kazakhstan and Korea Agree to Deepen Cooperation in Historical Remembrance and Youth Exchanges, DKnews.kz reports.

A meeting between the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to South Korea, Nurgali Arystanov, and the Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Kang Jung-ai. During the conversation, the two sides emphasized the importance of humanitarian dialogue, fostering patriotism among the younger generation, and expanding international cooperation.

The discussion took place within the framework of a departure ceremony for a delegation of the Korean Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs traveling to Kazakhstan and several European countries (France, Belgium, and the Netherlands) to visit memorial sites linked to the history of ethnic Koreans. The delegation includes more than 30 participants, including descendants of independence fighters and young leaders.

In his remarks at the event, Kazakh diplomat highlighted the dynamic nature of Kazakhstan–Korea relations and noted that the two countries enjoy Enhanced Strategic Partnership based on shared cultural values, mutual respect, and historical ties. He also emphasized the significant contribution of ethnic Koreans to Kazakhstan’s development.

The Ambassador paid special attention to constructive cooperation in the preservation of historical memory, noting that in 2021, by the decision of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the remains of General Hong Beom-do were solemnly returned to the Republic of Korea.

In turn, Minister Kang Jung-ai underlined the symbolic significance of this youth visit and called on the participants to reflect deeply on the sacrifices of their ancestors.

Overall, the upcoming visit of the Korean delegation will be an important step toward further rapprochement between the peoples of Kazakhstan and Korea and the development of youth exchanges.
