Kazakhstan and Latvia Continue to Strengthen Bilateral Relations in Transport and Logistics, DKnews.kz reports.
A meeting was held between the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Latvia, Dauren Karipov, and the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Latvia, Atis Švinka.
The parties discussed the current state and prospects for the development of transport cooperation, including the expansion of transit routes, infrastructure modernisation, and the development of multimodal logistics chains.
Particular attention was paid to intensifying cargo transportation between the countries through Latvian ports, using railway infrastructure for the accelerated delivery of Kazakhstani goods to EU countries, as well as issues of digitalisation of cargo turnover processes and simplification of customs procedures.
The interlocutors agreed to increase cooperation in the aviation sector to strengthen business and tourist ties. In this context, they exchanged views on the resumption of direct air links between the countries in the near future.
In addition, at the invitation of the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Marat Karabayev, the possibility of organising a visit by Minister Švinka to Kazakhstan this year was discussed.
