Kazakhstan is improving the reporting system on official development assistance

Workshop on statistical reporting on official development assistance (ODA) was held. The event was held within the framework of the implementation of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the OECD. The project aims to develop the ODA system in the country in accordance with the Roadmap developed by the OECD and KazAID, DKnews.kz reports.

Arken Arystanov, Chairman of the Board of KazAID, made a welcoming speech, noting that transparent and reliable ODA reporting is a pledge of trust from international partners.

The event was organised with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan for representatives of key ministries and agencies involved in ODA delivery and statistical reporting on ODA. The speakers of the seminar were representatives of the OECD Development Co-operation Directorate – G. Delalande, Advisor on Development finance and engagement and Sandie Xu Research officer.

Participants discussed the concept and criteria of official development assistance, the benefits of systematic data collection and reporting, and international approaches to accounting for humanitarian, technical and multilateral assistance. Topics covered included benefits, development objective, fellowship programmes, administrative costs and the contribution of ODA to peace and security.
