The National Bank of Kazakhstan is urging citizens to remain vigilant in light of emerging fraudulent schemes involving fake documents, forged payment details, counterfeit mobile applications, and fraudulent social media pages, DKnews.kz reports.

The main goal of these fraudsters is to gain access to personal bank accounts, deposits, money transfers, and to fraudulently obtain online loans or microloans.

Scammers may pose as representatives of the National Bank, government or law enforcement agencies, second-tier banks, mobile operators, or utility service providers. They often contact citizens under various pretexts and may send fake documents or banking details to initiate transfers.

Additionally, fraudsters may aggressively request victims to forward SMS messages, share verification codes, click on malicious links, download suspicious applications, or enable new features in messaging apps to gain control over mobile devices.

The National Bank strongly advises all citizens to carefully verify the authenticity of any calls, messages, emails, or requests.
Do not click on suspicious links, do not install unauthorized software, and do not transfer money to unknown individuals or accounts.

It is important to remember that National Bank employees do not make audio or video calls, do not service individual accounts, do not offer investment opportunities or financial products, do not provide insurance services, and do not conduct financial transactions with the general public.

If you encounter any fraudulent activity, you are strongly encouraged to file a report with the law enforcement authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

For advice or assistance, you can always contact the National Bank’s call center at the short number 1477.
