You can now apply for a new identity card completely online, DKnews.kz reports.

A pilot project has been launched on the eGov.kz portal and eGov Mobile app, allowing you to apply for a document from home. This initiative has been implemented by the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in collaboration with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

How to get the service on the eGov.kz portal?

In order to apply via the eGov.kz portal, you will need to log in, select the relevant service, undergo biometric identification, fill-in the required information, sign the application using one of the available methods and pay the state fee via the banking application.

How to get the service in the eGov Mobile app?

To apply through the eGov Mobile app, log in, select the relevant service, complete the biometric identification process, fill-in the required information, specify where you would like to receive the document, pay the state fee, and confirm your application using Face/Touch ID.

Who can use the service "Issuance of national ID, passport of the Republic of Kazakhstan"?

Only the holder of a national ID can use the service "Issuance of national ID, passport of the Republic of Kazakhstan". It is not possible to apply on behalf of another person, even by proxy or guardianship.

In which cases can I replace national ID online?

You can only replace the national ID document after it has expired – no earlier than 30 days before the expiry date and no later than 10 days after.

When and where can I collect the issued document?

An issued national ID can be collected from the registration point indicated by the applicant. It usually takes 15 working days to issue a national ID.

What is the state fee for obtaining the "Issuance of national ID, passport of the Republic of Kazakhstan" service?

The state fee for a standard production period is 0.2 MCI. An accelerated service is available for those who need the document urgently: the document can be received in 3 working days for a payment of KZT 1,771 or in 1 working day for a payment of KZT 3,372.

What information security measures are provided for when applying online?

The application process is carried out via a secure digital ID system that uses modern data protection methods and additional identification factors. First, the system verifies the applicant's IIN and phone number through the Mobile Citizens Database. Following this, a one-time code (OTP) is sent to the registered phone number. Next, the user must undergo biometric identification for an additional security measure. This approach guarantees a high level of security, preventing third parties from accessing the service.

Is biometric data securely protected?

All biometric data is stored in encrypted form within the secure National Information Technologies JSC contour. The Digital ID information system complies with the information security requirements issued by the MDDIAI RK's Information Security Committee.

What should I do if I fail to complete the biometric identification process?

In some cases, users may encounter difficulties in passing biometric identification. This may be due to individual appearance features, changes following surgery, scarring, or age-related or facial changes.

It is important to note that such cases are not a denial of service; rather, they are a protection mechanism. If online identification cannot be completed, the system will automatically offer an alternative option: obtaining the service through a CSC. In this case, the applicant can apply at any convenient CSC.

Full details of the service can be found in the service datasheet on the eGov.kz portal.

The modification was implemented thanks to the joint work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Public Services Committee of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan and National Information Technologies JSC.
