Scott Adkins to Headline Comic Con Astana 2025 — Hollywood Action Star Joins Marvel, John Wick and The Expendables Alumni at Central Asia’s Biggest Pop Culture Festival, DKnews.kz reports.
Central Asia’s largest celebration of geek culture just raised the stakes. The organizers of Comic Con Astana have officially announced their next major guest — and it’s none other than Scott Adkins, the British action star and martial artist beloved for his high-octane performances in Marvel films, the John Wick franchise, and countless cult-favorite action hits.
An Action Icon Like No Other
Known for his explosive fight choreography, Adkins has built a global fanbase thanks to his commanding screen presence and jaw-dropping martial arts skills. He shot to cult stardom with his role as Yuri Boyka in the Undisputed series — a character that’s become iconic among action fans.
His resume includes some of the biggest action blockbusters of the last two decades, with standout roles in Doctor Strange, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, John Wick: Chapter 4, The Expendables 2, and The Bourne Ultimatum. And that’s just scratching the surface.
Among his other notable appearances: Target Number One, Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning, Day Shift, Criminal, Ip Man 4, The Pink Panther, and the TV series Mutant X.
A Festival Bigger Than Ever
Comic Con Astana 2025 will run July 9–13, and for the first time ever, it will span two massive venues: Astana Arena Stadium and the Barys Arena Ice Stadium. With five full days of programming, this year’s event is poised to be the most ambitious yet.
And Scott Adkins won’t be the only Hollywood presence.
For the first time in its history, Comic Con Astana is hosting not one, not two, but three Hollywood headliners. Joining Adkins are:
- Andy Serkis, the legendary performance-capture actor behind Gollum (The Lord of the Rings), Caesar (Planet of the Apes) and Alfred (The Batman)
- and Esai Morales, the formidable villain from the latest Mission: Impossible installment

A Major Premiere: Kazakhstan Goes Global with Netflix
This year’s edition of Comic Con will also serve as the platform for a major international premiere: La Tregua (The Truce) — a Kazakhstan–Spain co-production created for global theatrical release and Netflix distribution.
It’s a historic first for Kazakhstan’s film industry and a milestone in its growing presence on the international entertainment stage.
Creative Partnerships and Immersive Zones
Comic Con Astana 2025 is organized with the support of Astana Tourism Development Center LLP, and powered by top global brands. Among them:
- Visa, the official partner of the festival, is championing creativity and self-expression through immersive brand experiences.
“We believe that the small steps — from buying a ticket to dressing up in cosplay — open doors to big opportunities and inspiring stories,” Visa representatives shared.
- In collaboration with Freedom Bank, Visa will bring interactive photo zones, exclusive themed cards, branded merchandise, and surprise giveaways to festivalgoers.
The two companies will also launch a special cosplay award as part of the event’s international cosplay competition.
Food, Fun, and That Taste of Nostalgia
Fan-favorite I’M, the fast-food restaurant chain, returns to the festival with something new: the debut of the French dog — a juicy gourmet hot dog you’ll only find on-site. Visitors can also enjoy a stylish photo zone and a prize-packed raffle with guaranteed wins.
Meanwhile, Chupa Chups will bring a splash of colorful nostalgia to its dedicated brand zone, courtesy of Perfetti Van Melle. Think bold, candy-colored installations perfect for selfies, sweet giveaways, and a chance to relive the unforgettable taste of childhood.
