Kazakhstan continues its steady journey toward becoming a regional leader in technology. This time, a major step was taken through a strategic partnership: the National Agency for Innovation Development “QazInnovations” and global tech giant Huawei signed a Memorandum of Understanding, DKnews.kz reports.

The signing took place during an official visit by a Kazakhstani delegation to the People’s Republic of China. The agreement outlines ambitious plans to create a sustainable platform for implementing cutting-edge technological solutions, supporting startups, and nurturing the next generation of ICT leaders in Kazakhstan.

Focusing on Human Capital

One of the core objectives of the partnership is the development of human capital. Huawei is widely known for its educational initiatives, including its flagship “Seeds for the Future” program, which offers talented youth access to advanced knowledge and global experience. Kazakhstani professionals will now have new opportunities to receive training, gain certification, and participate in international workshops.

The two sides are also exploring the idea of establishing a joint competence center. This facility would enable local startups and tech companies to test their solutions, access expert support, and tap into cutting-edge ICT technologies and international certification programs.

What the Leaders Are Saying

Sanat Zholdykhan, Chairman of the Board at QazInnovations, emphasized the importance of this collaboration:

“QazInnovations is committed to building a strong ecosystem for Kazakhstan’s technological development. Our partnership with Huawei will not only help us introduce advanced solutions but also give our specialists and companies access to global technologies and best practices. This memorandum lays the foundation for practical cooperation aimed at developing new technologies and creating the right environment for the growth of Kazakhstani startups.”

Song Yaxu, General Director of Huawei Technologies Kazakhstan, added:

“Kazakhstan has great potential in the field of digital development. We’re proud to contribute to the country’s digital transformation by sharing knowledge and technology, and by supporting the next generation of ICT professionals. Working with QazInnovations allows us to combine global experience with local initiatives to accelerate Kazakhstan’s technological advancement.”

Joint Projects and Hackathons

The partnership also includes the exchange of analytical data, joint participation in events such as hackathons, forums, and conferences, and the implementation of specific projects under the guidance of a dedicated working group.

Huawei is committed to supporting the local startup ecosystem by sharing expertise and helping bring innovative ideas into real-world business applications.

Why It Matters for Kazakhstan

This partnership is more than just a formality. For Kazakhstan, it represents a real opportunity to step into a new era of technology, train globally competitive professionals, and take local startups to the international stage.
