Kazakh sambo wrestlers win 7 medals at the World Championship

Team Kazakhstan has once again proved its strength on the world stage in beach sambo. At the 5th World Championship held in Singapore, our athletes delivered an outstanding performance, bringing home 1 gold, 1 silver, and 5 bronze medals, DKNews.kz reports.

Golden start to victory

The star of the tournament was Margarita Bazhayeva (up to 50 kg), who dominated all her opponents and showcased impeccable technique in the final to claim the gold medal.

Silver medal achievement

In the up to 58 kg category, Askar Yespussinov battled his way to the final, narrowly missing out on gold in a close match and earning a well-deserved silver medal.

Five bronzes - a sign of team strength

The bronze medalists were:

  • Zhandos Beisenbayev (up to 71 kg)
  • Bolat Sapar (up to 88 kg)
  • Ainur Torebay (up to 59 kg)
  • Araylym Abenova (up to 72 kg)
  • Team Kazakhstan - in the team competition

Competing against the world’s best
This year’s championship brought together top athletes from 20 countries. Although beach sambo is a relatively new and fast-growing discipline, Team Kazakhstan’s technical skill and determination shone through against strong international competition.

The pride of Kazakh sambo
Sambo has long held a special place in Kazakhstan’s sporting tradition. In recent years, our athletes have consistently secured podium finishes at international tournaments. This event in Singapore once again proved that the Kazakh school of sambo stands tall on the global stage.

Officials from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan emphasized:

“This result once again demonstrated that the Kazakh school of sambo has a solid place in the world arena. We wholeheartedly congratulate our athletes and their coaches on this achievement!”

Final tally: 1 gold, 1 silver, 5 bronze - Team Kazakhstan secured its place among the strongest teams in the world at the Beach Sambo World Championship.
