Haikou, Hainan: October 30. The 2025 “Dialogue between Haikou and Consulates-General of ASEAN Countries in Guangzhou” opened today. Meeting to explore new directions for cooperation under the theme "Pooling wisdom and jointly creating opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation,” this year's Dialogue has attendees from consulates in Guangzhou and Haikou as well as representatives of ASEAN countries’ key industrial and commercial associations.
After opening remarks by municipal leaders and the head of the ASEAN Consulates in Guangzhou, there were in-person cultural, tourism, trade and business presentations by the Indonesian, Singaporean and Cambodian Consulates, and congratulatory videos by government officials from many of Haikou's Sister Cities.
Promotions by the Haikou International Investment Promotion Bureau, the Municipal Publicity Department, and Longhua District showcased Haikou’s efforts to attract investment, highlighted the city’s film, television, and digital industries; and provided a comprehensive look at Haikou's development blueprint and unique advantages as an innovative, livable, beautiful, resilient, well-mannered, and smart city with huge potential for industry and urban growth, as well as improvements in people’s livelihoods and welfare. Also, the Haikou Media Convergence Center formally announced the Haikou International Sister Cities Media Cooperation Initiative.
Participants had high praise for the meeting and its content as a way of both improving the exchanges and mutual learning between Haikou and ASEAN countries and enhancing the confidence of all parties to invest and do business in Haikou. Many noted that they are looking forward to working together with Haikou for mutual beneficial results and common development.
