A delegation from the Presidential Archives of the Republic of Kazakhstan, led by Director Aliya Mustafina, paid a working visit to France and met with the Director of the National Archives of France, Marie-Françoise Limon-Bonnet. The two sides discussed opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of archival management, DKNews.kz reports.

The visit took place within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Presidential Archives of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the National Archives of the French Republic, signed in Paris in 2024 during the official visit of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to France.

A new chapter in archival partnership

During the meeting, special attention was given to expanding professional contacts between the archival institutions of both countries, as well as sharing experience in digitalization and the preservation of documentary heritage.

“Cooperation with our French colleagues opens new opportunities for joint projects and the exchange of best practices in the archival field. We are interested in developing a partnership that will help preserve historical memory and promote archival work at the international level. Our plans include organizing internships for Kazakhstani specialists, holding joint exhibitions, and implementing cultural and scientific projects,” said Aliya Mustafina, Director of the Presidential Archives of Kazakhstan.

A journey that connects history and culture

As part of the visit, the Kazakhstani delegation visited the house and park named after Mustafa Shokay in the town of Nogent-sur-Marne near Paris, where they paid tribute to the prominent Kazakh statesman and thinker.

In the coming days, the delegation is also expected to meet with the leadership of the Archives of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France to discuss further areas of cooperation and the potential for archival exchange.

The Kazakh side invited representatives of the National Archives of France to take part in the International Congress on Archives, which will be held in 2026 in Astana. The event is expected to become one of the largest professional platforms for the global archival community.

The visit of the Presidential Archives delegation marks an important step in strengthening cultural and scientific ties between Kazakhstan and France. By promoting professional collaboration and technological innovation in archival work, both countries reaffirm their shared commitment to preserving history and cultural heritage for future generations.
