National Information Technologies JSC (NITEC) announces that a new user authentication method has been introduced on the eGov.kz portal, as well as on its components (the eOtinish service, the Smart Bridge platform, and the Open Government portal), DKNews.kz reports.
Users now have several authentication options available:
- eGov QR – login by scanning a QR code in the eGov Mobile app;
- Authentication using a digital signature (DS) – verification is carried out via SMS code;
- Login with username and password – the user enters their IIN and password, and identity verification is carried out using a DS.
If a user regularly uses the eGov Mobile app for authentication, the QR code scanning feature – eGov QR – is recommended.
The new authentication mechanism using a login (IIN) and password is convenient when the user is outside the coverage area of mobile networks. In this option, identity verification via SMS code is not required. Users are also provided with the option to recover their password in case it is lost. The system automatically determines the data available to the user and displays the corresponding fields for input. After successful verification, the information is confirmed using a DS, completing the authentication process and ensuring secure access to the personal account.
Thus, the new mechanism complements the existing methods, expanding the range of available authentication options on the portal. The update is aimed at enhancing security and usability, as well as providing an alternative method of identification for accessing the digital public services of the eGov.kz portal and its components.
