A new industrial facility is set to appear in the Almaty region, bringing a fresh boost to the local economy. A plant producing ready-made pet food will be built here - the project is being implemented as part of the President’s instructions to develop Kazakhstan’s manufacturing sector, DKNews.kz reports.
The corresponding resolution was signed by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, an agreement has been concluded with Mars Petcare Kazakhstan. The plant will be located in the city of Qonaev, and the total investment will exceed 88.8 billion tenge.
The plant’s design capacity will be up to 100,000 tons of finished products per year.
When the plant is expected to launch
Construction and infrastructure preparation will take several years.
It is planned that:
- construction and commissioning will be completed by December 31, 2030
- production will start from January 1, 2031
Jobs and training opportunities
The new facility will create around 200 jobs, with at least 85% of positions held by citizens of Kazakhstan.
There are also plans for training and upskilling programs - helping develop local specialists and reducing dependence on foreign labor.
Why it matters
The project is expected to make a significant contribution to Kazakhstan’s processing and manufacturing sector.
The plant will:
- expand the range of locally produced goods with high added value
- strengthen the region’s industrial base
- reduce imports of finished pet food
- stimulate related sectors - logistics, packaging, agriculture
With the steady growth of the pet care market, this project could become an important step toward building local production and future export potential.
