In Guangzhou, Consul General of Kazakhstan Valikhan Sarsembekov met with Li Weiqing, Vice President and Deputy Party Secretary of South China University of Technology, DKNews.kz reports.
The meeting was also attended by Dias Myrzakhanov, Director of the International Cooperation Department of the Kazakh Automobile and Road Institute named after L. Goncharov (KazADI).
Focus on education and research
The parties discussed prospects for Kazakhstan–China cooperation in higher education, academic exchanges and research partnerships.
A key point was highlighted:
- the number of Kazakh students at the university is steadily growing
- currently 31 Kazakh students are studying there
For many of them, this is not only education, but also access to international research opportunities.

The Chinese side is ready to expand cooperation
The university expressed strong interest in moving forward.
Priorities include:
- expanding academic mobility
- developing joint programs
- strengthening scientific cooperation
- deepening ties with Kazakh universities
including KazADI.
From discussions to real projects
At the end of the meeting, both sides confirmed readiness to implement concrete joint projects in education and science.
This includes:
- joint educational programs
- research initiatives
- exchanges of students and faculty
building a long-term and systematic partnership.
